MY SHIKSA BOYFRIEND
A solo-show about dating, religion, and identity
What would you do if you grew up in a conservative Jewish household but then fall in love with someone non-Jewish? Also, did you know that reindeer are real animals? With comedic and poignant anecdotes, I take you through my process of discovery.
My Shiksa Boyfriend is a solo show in development that I've been working on since January 2018. After taking a solo show workshop with Seth Barrish (Mike Birbiglia's The New One on Broadway), I began workshopping the script with my dramaturge and director Sidse Ploug Soerensen culminating in a staged reading at the TBG Studio Theater in August 2018. The next version was performed in October 2018 during a sold-out run at New Yiddish Rep's studio theater in midtown. The show received a wonderful review from Oppauld.com. My Shiksa Boyfriend (draft 11) was most recently performed, with additional direction by Stephen Singer, in an off-broadway house for one-night in February 2019. I'm currently editing and workshopping the script for a run in Fall 2019.
